2007 saw the formation of The Neighbourhood Council in Calgary, Canada. The band quickly drew attention by winning the youth category of the 2007 Calgary Folk Music Festival’s songwriting competition followed by the release of their debut EP, Set Pieces.
The 19 to 21 year olds soon moved to Montreal where they decided a name change was in order to suit their evolving sound. This saw the birth of Braids who are now working on their forthcoming debut album Native Speaker which boasts a couple of epic tracks over 8 minutes long.
